London, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Two of Englands most in-form sides will meet at White Hart Lane on Sunday as Tottenham will play host to Manchester United. United has been rolling since its derby defeat to Manchester City on Nov. 2, taking a total of 22 points from eight matches. That run has lifted the Red Devils to third place in the Premier League table with 35 points for the season, 10 points back of first-place Chelsea. United is coming off an impressive display on Boxing Day as Wayne Rooney netted a brace and provided the assist for Robin van Persies goal in a solid 3-1 home victory over Newcastle. Juan Mata also enjoyed an influential outing, igniting the United attack with several key passes in the final third, and Radamel Falcao, who scored the equalizer in the clubs 1-1 draw with Aston Villa last weekend, helped set up Rooney for the opening goal in Fridays defeat of the Magpies. But Tottenham arrives in good form, as well, winning their last three league contests by 2-1 scorelines. Harry Kane scored for his third Premier League match on the bounce, getting Spurs off the mark in the opening minute of the clubs Boxing Day clash at Leicester City. Leonardo Ulloa leveled the score for the Foxes, but Christian Eriksen converted a free kick in the 71st minute to give Tottenham all three points. Chelsea has won three straight to maintain its position at the Premier League summit, but Sundays fixture could see the Blues drop points. Jose Mourinhos men will travel to St. Marys to take on a Southampton side that is flying high after a 3-1 victory at Crystal Palace on Boxing Day. The Saints appear to have reversed their poor run of form by taking two successive wins to move into sole possession of fourth place in the table. West Ham United, meanwhile, has dropped to fifth place in the table after a loss to Chelsea on Friday. The Hammers will attempt to rebound on Sunday with a positive result at home against an Arsenal side that was made to grind out a narrow win over QPR last time out. Second-place Manchester City enters Sundays slate atop the form table having won its last seven league contests. The Citizens will aim to make it eight in a row when they welcome Burnley to the Etihad. Newcastle will hope to avoid a fourth straight defeat when it welcomes Everton to St. James Park, and lowly Leicester City will be out to collect its first league win since Sept. 21 when it travels to Hull City. Rounding out Sundays action, Stoke City will welcome West Bromwich Albion to the Hawthorns, Crystal Palace will head to Loftus Road to take on QPR and Aston Villa will play host to Sunderland at Villa Park. Mondays lone fixture will see manager Brendan Rodgers face his former side as Liverpool will take on Swansea City at Anfield. Mackays position at the Premier League club looked doomed earlier this week after Malaysian owner Vincent Tan sent the manager an email requesting him to stand down or be fired. But Mackay, who insisted he would not resign, has been handed a reprieve with the hierarchy wanting to heal the rift. "As things stand Malky is in charge for the foreseeable future and will be until something else happens," chairman Mehmet Dalman said on Sunday on the club website. "I dont want to go game by game on this, with people asking if he will be in charge." Fans reacted with fury to Tans attempt to oust Mackay, showing their support for the manager and disdain for the owner throughout a 3-1 loss at Liverpool on Saturday. Unsettled by the supporters reaction, Dalman appealed for a display of unity at the next Premier League game against Southampton on Thursday. "If I had one wish for Boxing Day, its that they dont hold up Tan Out or Malky In banners, but rather one that says Talk to each other," Dalman said. "The crisis for the time being is over. The emphasis as of today is for us to crreate space and dialogue.dddddddddddd" Tan had already alienated some fans by changing the clubs colours from blue to red and adopting a new crest. Tan and Mackay clashed over the dismissal of head of recruitment Iain Moody in October, and the damage is yet to be repaired. "We managed to create space for everyone to work together back in October and we have to see if we can do that again in order to move forward," Dalman said. "At least we have a platform for dialogue, which gives us an opportunity to try to work our way through this. "If we wish to work towards a reconciliation, Vincent Tan has offered us that opportunity to move towards that. If it works, it works. If it doesnt, it doesnt ... lets see if we can fix it. We cant keep having the club under a cloud." In the unusually blunt and frank statement from a Premier League club, Dalman made it clear that replacing Mackay would be no problem, while denying he had approached potential replacements yet. "As chairman, (I) have not initiated any dialogue with anybody else," Dalman said. "Can we go out and get another manager? Of course we can." Mackay led Cardiff into the Premier League for the first time last season. The Welsh club is four points above the drop zone. ' ' '
